7th & 8th Grade CCMS Chorus Serenades Cornwall Seniors
By Ian Silverstone
On Tuesday, November 21st, the Cornwall Central Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Chorus went to Munger Cottage Senior Center to perform for the senior residents of Cornwall.
Gathered in the main recreation room, the Chorus, led by Music Teacher, Valerie Ransbottom, sang such memorable songs as “On Moonlight Bay”, “The First Noel”, “America the Beautiful” and “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” just to name a few! Other songs had messages of freedom, hope, courage and change.
Some of the songs were recognized by the seniors and they enthusiastically chimed in with the students. The chorus members, whose voices enchanted everyone in the room, were accompanied by the talented Ben Wells on piano. As a special treat, a member of the Middle School Knitting Club, Andrea Byasse, distributed wonderful hand made sacks filled with baking dough which she and the rest of the Club created.
Look for a report from Ian soon on the chorus and band performance Tuesday night at the middle school.
