General News: Free Orange Works Training Program

November 13, 2012

If you have a disability and would like to work, Orange County Employment and Training Administration’s (OC ETA) Ticket to Work program may be the right fit for you. To learn more, be sure to attend Orange Works’ training program to explore your best path to employment. The free two-hour workshop is geared toward those people who have a disability and wish to be employed, but want to know how working will affect their benefits.

This program will answer such questions as:
- How will work and income affect my benefits?
- What will happen to my health insurance coverage if I choose to work?
- What will happen if I try to work, but have to stop because of my disability?

“Many people with disabilities have a desire to be employed and move toward greater self-sufficiency,” said OC ETA Director Steve Knob. “One of the challenges frequently preventing them from seeking employment is the concern about the impact a job will have on their benefits and what will happen if they find themselves unable to continue working as a result of the disability. The Ticket to Work program will help those seeking a job explore their options, understand the impact on benefits, and gain experience while staying in control of benefit choices,” continued Knob. “I encourage disabled residents seeking employment to attend this free program.”

The two hour workshop will be held Friday, November 16 from 10 am to 12 noon at the Orange Works Office, 3 Washington Center, 4th floor, Newburgh.

The program is free, but registration is requested. For more information or to reserve your spot, contact Veronica Jones, Employment and Training Administration Disability Resource Coordinator, Orange Works/One Stop Employment and Training Center at 346-1321 or email [email protected].
