The 39th Annual Cornwall Fall Festival held on Saturday, September 16, 2012 and organized by the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, was one of the largest Cornwall festivals to date. Local shop owners and visitors set up booths for the day to show and sell their wares and gain potential new customers. Many booths handed out promotional material and held raffles to win prizes.

Two stages were set up, one in the middle at Bridge Street and another on the end of the festival on Willow Avenue. The Bridge Street Stage featured tumbling by Gym Kids, Dance Design Dancers and a Capoeira performance from Studio 208 led by Zumbi. The teen pop-punk band Better Late Than Never drew a crowd at the Willow Avenue stage.

The giant inflatable rides “pay once, ride all day admission” kept children busy for hours and had some parents making multiple trips back to the rides. Rich Massimi, the President of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and owner of Vails gate Cleaners, had a booth next to the inflatables and handed out glow in the dark necklaces to the children.

Betty Jurgens raised money for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital with her annual creations of gift boxes made out of recycled greeting cards. Betty’s card boxes have become an integral part of the Cornwall Fall Festival as she’s made them for over thirty years.

The Cornwall Historical Society had a booth with information about becoming a new member, how to apply for historic status of a home and sign up sheets for their 10th Annual Wine and Cheese event. They also sold t-shirts and books about Cornwall history.

At the Studio 208 booth, Lynn Peebles, the founder of Studio 208, explained the benefits of the MELT Method, a simple self-healing technique using balls and rollers to help rebalance the body. Sandy Wells discussed the benefits of meditation. A drawing was held for a 7-class pass won by Kelly Casey, congratulations Kelly!

Michelle Gorta from the Canine Sanctuary had a booth featuring two pets up for adoption, Jimmy, a one-year old Siamese mix cat and Teddy, an American Eskimo about one and one-half years old. This was the Canine Sanctuary’s 16th year at the festival and their first time selling a calendar to raise money for homeless pets. Toni Lund, the photographer behind the calendar, was also at the booth taking pet portraits. I spoke to Toni and (as of September 25th) she said, “Jimmy still needs a home and Teddy has a few applications on him but Michelle is still looking. I will foster Teddy in my home until he is adopted.”
