General News: Cheerleaders Earn Two Titles

The Cornwall Varsity Cheerleaders earned two titles in a local competition this past weekend and are working hard to maintain their edge as they head into the OCIAA competition to be held this Saturday in Kingston. The cheerleading squad then goes to a competition at John Jay the following weekend before heading off on a 13-hour bus ride to Kentuck where they will compete nationally on March 2.
This past weekend, the Varsity Cheerleaders won their first Grand Champion in at least four years and took First Place in their category. The Grand Champion trophy was awarded for the highest overall score.
The team would like to thank everyone who supported them at the Chillis' Night Out fundraiser on January 24th. According to team parent Connie Wagner, Chilli's had the largest number of supporters they've ever had for a fundraiser. "Way to go Cornwall!" she says.
Attached is photo of Varsity team with their 1st Place & Grand Champion trophies. Their sign was provided by one of the "Cheer Dads" and refers to Coach Betty's 16 ladies on the cheer squad - "Sweet 16."
