General News: Couple Seeks Support for Dream Wedding

Valentine’s Day is a month away, but the sweet romance of a couple with local ties is capturing the heart of many nationwide.
Eileen Bellew and Kevin Houston found one another after losing their first partners and now they are competing with five other couples to win a dream wedding in Hawaii next month.
Eileen and Kevin submitted their story to the show Live! with Kelly and were chosen as one of five finalists. In a letter, they told of how Kevin, a West Point graduate who lives in New Windsor, cared for his wife of 21 years until she died in 2009, leaving three children behind. Eileen’s husband perished while on the job as a New York City firefighter and she was left to raise her four children alone in Pearl River.
Two years ago, the couple met one another and discovered that they could both love again. The couple was engaged last May and Kevin says that he hopes they will celebrate their wedding on the beach in Hawaii next month as winners of Live With Kelly’s Hawaiin Dream Wedding Giveaway contest.
Each of the five contestant couples submitted their stories in a letter and video to the show and, starting at 10 am on Friday, January 20, people can vote for their favorite pair.
“Despite the horrible tragedies that befell them and their families, and sent them into emotional free falls, they have rallied, collected themselves, stayed positive, and risen up to dream again,” reads the letter Houston and Bellew submitted to the show.
