General News: Dance Festival Call for Participants

Do you wanna dance? If you are a dancer or choreographer or just a lover of the art, the Orange County Arts Council invites you to take part in the first All-County Dance Celebration to be held on April 29, 2012 to coincide with National Dance Week.
Orange County dancers, choreographers, dance companies and dance studios are invited to participate in this one-day performance that is designed to celebrate dance as an art form and to raise public awareness of the artistic beauty, local availability and fundamental benefits of dance. The Orange County Arts Council hopes that by bringing dancers together for one single performance, collectively they will demonstrate the beauty and artistic merits of dance and encourage the community to become more involved in arts.
An open meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 24 from 12:30-1:30 om and on Friday, January 27 from 5:30-6:30 pm at the Arts Council offices at 23 White Oak Dr. in Sugar Loaf to discuss the registration form and develop a committee to plan, develop and raise funds for the event. The performance will be held at the Paramount Theatre in Middletown, NY, on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 3pm. All choreographers will be required to present an original piece, using their own dancers and music.
