General News: Date Set for Rossi Trial

Washingtonville high school principal Michael Rossi will have his day in court if no settlement is made before January 30, the Monday morning when his case is scheduled to go to trial in the courtroom of Town of Cornwall Judge Frank Navarra. Rossi faces two misdemeanor charges of sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a minor.
The charges stem from Rossi’s alleged inappropriate conduct with a 16-year-old male student in an automobile parked in Cornwall. He faces additional charges in New Windsor where detectives gathered evidence of repeated texting of the victim by Rossi in October 2010. That trial will be held on January 9.
The evidence gathered in those text messages may now also be used in court when the case is presented next month. The defense attorney had attempted to have those excluded but Judge Navarra ruled Wednesday in favor of including the messages in the trial. The case is now headed to a trial by jury, unless the defense opts for a trial by judge.
Rossi has been on leave from his position as principal since October 2010.

this is a very sad story. Rossi has chosen to put pressure on the accuser, while he has been out on paid leave.
I know Rossi from another town, and there is no doubt in my mind about his guilt.
