Trick-or-treaters hit the streets around 5 pm in the town of Cornwall on Monday, Halloween, a time when the youngest children generally go door-to-door for their sweet treats. In the Quaker Mill area by 5:30 pm the streets were full of young children in their costumes and carrying candy bags.

In the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson, where trick-or-treating has been postponed until Wednesday, November 2 by order of the Mayor, older children with ghoulish painted faces, teens mostly, could be seen headed to the town.

The trick-or-treating in the village was postponed because of concerns about hazardous conditions and later in the evening, Chief Todd Hazard of the Cornwall police department distributed his own message via the school district Monday evening, warning trick-or-treaters to watch for power lines or damaged trees that may pose a risk to safety.
