Drivers in the greater Cornwall area encountered flooded roads in at least two areas on Monday morning.
In Mountainville, Moodna Creek spilled over its banks, forcing the closure of Taylor Road at Otterkill to all but local traffic until mid-afternoon. Water swirled around a small cottage at that intersection where the creek has flooded nearby fields.
In Cornwall, Ring’s Pond flooded as well, pushing water into Hudson Street where traffic was reduced to one lane.
Skywarn spotter information reported that the Moodna also flooded a section of Route 94 in Washingtonville, as well as the first floor of some residences and partially submerged cars on Route 208.
The National Weather Service advises caution in areas prone to flooding, especially while driving at night.
