The Storm King Fire Engine Co. #2 held its 143rd annual inspection dinner on Saturday where the newly-elected officers were sworn in for a new term. The SKFE Co. #2 officers are President: Doug Vatter; Vice President: Matt Clancy; Secretary: Thom Munterich; Financial Secretary: Frank Romano; Chaplain: Charles Tonneson and Nancy Bryan; Property Custodian: Charles Tonneson; Treasurer: Tom O’Keefe; Trustees: Dennis Wood, Daniel Milich, George Lindenberger, Joe Cruz, Andy Stathes and Steve Johnson.

After the induction of the officers, company president Doug Vatter handed out awards to the members for their service during the past year. He first recognized George Lindenberger and Robert Quillen for “always being there,” and presented them the 2009 and 2010 Anthony R. Cocks Award. Vatter mentioned the numerous fundraising events where Lindenberger always available to lend a hand and Quillen's service as a mechanic on the company's vehicles.

Charles Tonneson was recognized for most participation by a life member 2010, Doug Vatter received the same recognition for most participation by an active honorary member 2010 and George Lindenberger was honored for most participation by an active member 2010.

The year’s top responders, members who had responded to 60 percent of all calls for service, were then honored: Tom Lyons, Krisitie VanDuzer, Nancy Bryan, Charles Quinn and Robby Vought.

SKFE Chief Armitage then recognized people in the community who had helped the fire company throughout the year, including Dave Halvorsen , head of the village DPW, Walter Moran, head of buildings and grounds for the Cornwall School District, Cornwall Police Chief Todd Hazard, and Al Crudele, Communications Director.

Other SKFE were mentioned for their service to the company and for the efforts they contribute to the annual Bruce Armitage Softball Tournament, which was organized this year by Michael Trainor, Matt Clancy and Bob Sherman.

Members of the Auxiliary were also recognized and a special award was given to Jim Lulves for his role playing Santa on the back of the ladder truck as it rolls through the village distributing candy to excited children in the days before Christmas.

The coming year promises to be a busy one for SKFE #2 as it continues fundraising for its role as host of the 2012 Orange County Volunteer Firefighter Association annual parade that will bring hundreds of area firefighters to the village for several days of ceremonies that will culminate in a parade.
