Week of November 13, 2010

Grade 2-3 Division

Cougars 2, Cobras 0
The Cougars finished off a terrific season with a 2-0 victory over the Cobras on Saturday. Sophia Harding started off the scoring by driving a low liner past the goalie in the first quarter and Matthew Carton added an insurance goal in the 3rd quarter. On defense, Emily Garrison, Kienle Burns, Logan Wentland, and Kai Wipplinger turned back any and all Cobra threats. Congratulations Cougars on a wonderful season!!!

Badgers 1, Tigers 0
Jack Kempton scored in the final minutes to give the Badgers the win. David Olsen, Alaura Czumak and Hannah Pohlidal all gave a tremendous effort.

Bears 0, Cheetahs 0

Nicolas Dugan had a stellar game at defense, stopping Cheetah attackers again and again. Kaitlyn Dugan played beautifully despite feeling under the weather. Brooke Zimmer played outstanding offense and nearly scored blasting a shot just wide left.

Bulls 1, Jaguars 0

The Bull’s season ended with a win when Anthony Cerra scored a goal off a great assist from Brendan Dineen who was making great passes all game long. Lizzy Walklet had four shots on goal that just missed. Some great defense by Emily McArdle and Dana Bell helped the Bulls hang on to their victory. The team really played together today and their growth as a team showed.

Tigers 0, Badgers 1

Ava Desharnais made 3 great saves in goal to keep the game at a tie until the 4th quarter. Marie Freeman did a great protecting the goal as well. Excellent speed by Connor Furst and Kyle LaGuardia bringing the ball down the line several times. Jason Shrem's perseverance nearly scored a goal for the Tigers along with great teamwork from Claire Kelly. Great teamwork all around Tigers!!

Cheetahs 0, Bears 0

The Cheetahs performed excellently in the season finale this week! Although tied in the end, Brigette Ung-Sansaricq and Kevin Latimer displayed their characteristic speed to get the ball into scoring position on several occasions. Eli Watson and Eddie Suarez also showed excellent hustle performing well on defense and up front. Christina Alfieri and MacKenzie Robles made important saves as goalie with great assistance from Jenna Dudman and Jake Tyler. Brian Novotny and Jimmy O'Neill kept the pressure on with great hustle throughout the game as well. Congrats on a great season, Cheetahs!!

Pumas 2, Lions 1

In the final game of the season, the Pumas came back against the Lions to win 2-1. Sean Sugre and Harrison Arnold pushed the Pumas attack. Eva Davet and Cynthia Rogan locked down defense and stopped the Lions' offensive attack.

Cougars 5, Wolverines 0
The Cougars stormed past the Wolverines 5-0 Saturday, November 6th. Matthew Carton finished off a hat trick ( 3 goals ) with a very impressive unassisted full-field dash. Kienle Burns and Emma Mozgiel tallied the other 2 scores while Aiden Jankowsky and Olivia Hansen led another solid defensive effort.


Grade 4 Division


Owls 1 Falcons 0

The Owls shut out the Falcons in an exciting game to wrap up a great season this Saturday. Billy Ormiston scored the only goal of the game off a pass from Robbie Hess. It was an all-around team effort with great defense from Katie Frey, Jenna Macleod and Ryan Hogan.

Hawks 3 Owls 2
In the second game of a double-header, the Owls came up five seconds short against the undefeated Hawks. Billy Ormiston and Dante Santoro both scored. Tommy Doyle was awesome in goal for the Owls. And Molly Fowler, Sean Mosca, Morgan Hurst, Olivia Perez and Olivia Megan Sanchez and Blaine Doyle each had goals for the Hawks. The whole team played great against this tough opponent. Dylan Henjum and Gannon Yarmus were strong in offense, Hannah Reinle and Michael Martens were tough on defense. Erin Beckvermit was great in goal. Olivia Vizethan and Nick Pastore had an all-around great game.


Grade 5-6 Division


Heat 0, Lasers 1
Great team effort by Alexandra Fitzgerald, Reese Smyth, Rachel Friedman and Angela Tommasi. Awesome job in goal by Grace White.

Flames 4, Meteors 1

On the final day of the season the Flame played their best game. Goals from Madeline McGuire, Sara Mintz & Samantha Russell. Strong defense from Zoe Scileppi & Olivia Debree.

Strikers vs. Blitz 2-0
The Strikers were able to end their successful season undefeated, after a win over the Blitz. Steven Jennings and Alex Krause kept the opposition scoreless with outstanding goal tending. Top notch defending by Sean O' Neill, James Santorelli, and Derek Luhrs. Jake Bainnson used impressive skill to score the two goals. Excellent play by all the Strikers, well done!

Heat 2, Comets 3 (From week 11/6)

Alexa Ziler and Sarah Carpenter scored goals for the Heat. Brittany Stambaugh and Rachel Friedman showed great hustle. Reese Smyth played awesome defense

Rowdies 1 Blitz 0
Cole Neville scored the one goal for the Rowdies off a well-placed corner kick. Ryan Mayo, Anthony DeMaria, and Pierce Kerin supported the effort with strong defensive play, good passing, and proper positioning in the middle of the field..
 
Rowdies 2 Cosmos 1
Nick Gallo scored twice and played aggressively throughout the match-up despite not wearing his glasses.  Mark Kresevic contributed assertive play on the defensive end as did Ryan Mayo.
 
Strikers 3 Rowdies 1
The Rowdies came up short in a good battle under tough conditions. Paul-Hudson Erwin and Nick Gallo played extremely well in goal, Cole Neville nailed a shot into the corner of the net for a score. Ryan Trieste and Dalton Weis provided the Rowdies with strong offensive drives into the defensive end.


Grade 7-10 Division


Mexico 2, Portugal 2
Ian Ross scored unassisted for Mexico and Mike Scott also scored with an assist from Joe Meakim. Scott Chatfield, Ty Molloy and Dan Storer played a great all around game.
