The C-5 Cargo Plane |
October 31, 2006
If you were out and about at noon today, you may have caught sight of an C-5 cargo plane lumbering south along the Hudson River to West Point. Here's a look at it if you missed it.
The giant plane is one of a series of aircraft that will flyover West Point Military Academy this week, leading up to a football challenge between Army and Air Force on Friday night. On Wednesday, expect to see a KC-135 refueling tank pass by, weather permitting, and on Thursday, a B-52 bomber.
Friday will be the culmination of the flights, which according to USMA spokesman Frank DeMaro, are made as part of official training missions. At noon, two powerful A-10s will fly a passover and at 4:30, prior to the review, a B-2 stealth bomber will swoop by. You can also expect a group of Army Black Hawk helicopters to fly overhead as well.
