Would you like to see how Newburgh and the Hudson RIver look from a balloon that is 10,000 feet up in the air? The good news is that you don’t have to get into a balloon yourself to enjoy the view because some people with inquiring minds attached an HD video camera to a weather balloon and launched it in August from a park in Newburgh.
Luke Geissbuhler and his two sons are from New York City and they selected Newburgh as the launch site for their project that ended up sending the balloon and camera into space, where it captured amazing views above earth and outer space.
Geissbuhler’s team had equipped the camera with a parachute and when the balloon burst, it came tumbling down to earth, landing only 30 miles north of its launch site.
