General News: Three Run for Seats on Library Board

March 18, 2010

From the Cornwall Public Library

Three residents of the Cornwall School District community have turned in their petitions seeking the position of Trustee of Cornwall Public Library. One seat for a five-year term will be available effective July 1st when Lucinda Poindexter rotates off the board. As one of five library trustees, Ms. Poindexter is currently also serving as board secretary.

The following individuals will be on the ballot during the library’s 2010/2011 operating budget vote, scheduled for Tuesday, April 13th, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. Voters will be voting for one of the three candidates.

• Cheryl Buescher, a resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson
• Gail Gold-Berger, a resident of Cornwall
• Susanne Vondrak, a resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson

“We are so pleased to have three candidates for this year’s election,” said Karen LaRocca-Fels, Library Director. “They are all active patrons of the library along with their families, as well as being supportive advocates of what we do. We appreciate that they are willing to invest of themselves in this way.”

The Board of Trustees and Library Staff encourage all eligible voters to participate in the election process on April 13th. Information about the 2010/2011 budget is available at the library, or through the library’s website: www.cornwallpubliclibrary.org.

Comments:

Stephan is right on. The Public Library is so valuable to our community. I think everyone, myself included, remembers spending long hours in the library as children and young adults. It is too valuable a resource to ever let it suffer. As Stephan said, in these tough times it becomes just that more valuable. Please support the Public Library.
