General News: Town Officials Sworn In

Four elected officials in the town of Cornwall began new terms in office on Monday at the start of the annual re-organization meeting.
Town clerk Elaine Tilford Schneer, who had already been sworn into her 17th term in office by a county official, administered the oath of office to town supervisor Kevin Quigley and council members Mary Beth Greene Krafft. Quigley was re-elected to a second term as supervisor last November, when voters also re-elected Mazzocca and Greene Krafft.
Town clerk Elaine Schneer later said that she is delighted to continue in her position, which she has held for 32 years. She said she entered public office in 1973 when she completed her father’s term as receiver of taxes following his death. She was elected town clerk five years, becoming clerk in 1978. “I love what I do and I don’t feel it has been that long,” Schneer said.
