Hines, who won in his first bid for public office, will represent the 12th District in the county legislature.

In the 15th District, incumbent Democratic legislator Chris Eachus held a slim lead over Republican K. James Dittenberger, a Republican. With 94 percent of the votes counted, Eachus had 1,081 votes to Dittbrenner's 1,027.

On a county level, Orange County Executive Ed Diana won a third term in office by defeating his Democratic challenger Pat O?Dwyer by a margin of 62 to 38 percent.
