General News: Teen Charged With Throwing Rocks

August 07, 2009

The Town of Cornwall Police arrested a 14-year old Cornwall youth after receiving a complaint that someone was throwing rocks off of the Route 9W overpass at Angola Road shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday.

A rock that was thrown off of the overpass struck the windshield of a 2007 International Box truck that was traveling northbound, breaking the windshield, according to Cornwall police chief Todd Hazard. The driver of the vehicle was able to maintain control of his vehicle and pulled safely off the road.

Cornwall police charged the 14-year-old male with reckless endangerment in the second degree, a class a misdemeanor, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class a misdemeanor. The teen was released to his parents to reappear in the Orange County Family Court.

Comments:

I can't wait for school to start back up. Too many kids in this town have honestly nothing better to do with their time. What ever happen to summer jobs for youth (lawn mowing, yard work, etc.). It seems we have bred a culture of kids who don't see a reason why they should work hard and excel at anything other than consuming. Perhaps the ongoing economic collapse will teach another generation what it is like to do without, and how hard work is the only way you can get by.
