General News: Call to Artist: Hudson Valley & River

The Culture in Cornwall Advisory Committee is joining many other Quadricentennial celebrations of Henry Hudson’s historic 1609 voyage up the Hudson River with an art show at our Town Hall.
The art included in this show will highlight the beauty of the Hudson River and especially our own Hudson Valley as well as the ships that now move up and down the River.
The Culture in Cornwall Advisory Committee cordially invites artists to participate in this historic art show scheduled to open at Cornwall Town Hall on Monday, June 8, 2009. This show will hang during the Town of Cornwall’s Fourth of July festivities. In keeping with our theme, all work must be associated with the Hudson River.
Artists will be allowed to hang two framed works no larger than 11 x 14 inches each or one larger piece. ALL WORK MUST BE FRAMED AND READY TO HANG WITH SECURE EYE HOOKS AND WIRE. ANY WORK NOT IN A SECURE FRAME WITH HOOK EYES WILL NOT BE HUNG.
All works may be offered for sale directly between you and the potential buyer. The Town of Cornwall takes no commission on any work sold and is not involved in any transactions. Please price your works accordingly. Prices will be placed on a collective price list that will be available for viewers.
As you select work for this exhibit please bear in mind that the Town Hall is a government building and open to the public – NUDES AND POLITICAL STATEMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The committee reserves the right to reject any work deemed inappropriate.
The opening reception for this show will be held Friday, June 12, 2009 from 3 – 4:30 PM. There is no entrance fee for this show, however, each participant will be asked to contribute $5.00 toward the opening reception and to help defray the costs of maintaining the gallery.
