General News: Cornwall United Soccer Boys and Men's Teams

September 14, 2007

U9 BOYS-RANGERS
The Rangers played their first game in the U-9 division against the Brewster Braves, and came away on the short side of a 6-1 decision.
The team showed great promise for this season with some smart passing, one, which led to its lone goal scored by Karl Poling with an assist from Ian Anderson.  Newcomer Brian Flannery showed nice ball handling in front that will bring results this season.

 U10BOYS- ROVERS
The U-10 Rover boys opened the season with an exciting and hard fought match against the Wappingers Red Dogs that resulted in a 6-6 tie. The team was led by Salatiel Carino with 4 goals; Alex Rosenbaum and Kieran McVan with one goal each, and Aiden O’Keefe supplied much of the play making in the midfield with three assists.  Raffaele Aversa and Michael McLaughlin provided solid defensive play.  David Schuyler and David Brubacher in their debut with Cornwall United shared goal-tending responsibilities and showed great hustle on the field.

U12 BOYS-DRAGONS ‘96
The U12 boys opened up the fall season with a 6-0 loss to the Washingtonville Raptors. Despite the heat and humidity, the entire team put forth a great effort and will build on this positive experience.

U13 BOYS- COBRAS
The Cobras applied pressure throughout the match and defeated the Washingtonville Blue Knights 4-0.  The midfield played with high energy all day creating many chances for the attackers and resulting in goals by Dylan Burns, Jake Ross, Joe Valle, and Edmond Myers.  The defense and goal keeping was especially sharp again; extending the “no goals against” streak to five straight matches.

 CUSC over 30 men’s team
The Cornwall United Men opened their fall season in the Eastern District Soccer League with a scoreless draw at Yorktown.  Goalie Tom Keefer shut down the Yorktown offense with a strong performance.  John Anderson and Ed DeTemple were aided by newcomers Greg Bruno and Cano Gonzales that limited the number of shots.  Cornwall controlled the game in midfield due to the skill and effort of Denis O’Keefe, Chris Dunkley, Luis Serrano, Marcos Cordero, Steve Smith and Mario Herrera.  Jeff Moulton and Marcus Roby played a strong game up front with constant pressure on the Yorktown defense.  The Cornwall United Over 30 Men’s Team is comprised of residents of Cornwall along with parents and coaches of Cornwall United Soccer Club.
