General News: Public Invited to Congressional Call-in

On Wednesday, February 11 at 6:50 p.m., U.S. Rep. John Hall (D-Dover) will hold the first ever district-wide Virtual Town Hall conducted by telephone for the 19th Congressional District. Tomorrow's Telephone Town Hall will focus on job creation and economic recovery in the Hudson Valley.
"I want to give every single one of my constituents the opportunity to ask me questions or share their concerns with me," said Congressman Hall. "With work and family responsibilities sometimes it can be difficult for people to get to one of my offices or come to one of my Congress on Your Corner meetings. That is why I decided to hold a Telephone Town Hall to give everyone the opportunity to talk with me about job creation and economic recovery in the Hudson Valley."
Congressman Hall said that worsening economic news shows the desperate need for urgent action on legislation to create jobs. The Department of Labor announced last week that the U.S. economy lost 598,000 jobs in January, the largest one-month decline since 1974, and the unemployment rate hit 7.6%, its highest point in 16 years.
"A loss of 598,000 jobs last month doesn't just represent abstract numbers," said Congressman Hall. "It shows the rapidly growing number of families all over the country who are losing their livelihoods. We must work urgently to create jobs and pass bold legislation to help the economy recover as soon as possible."
Tomorrow night's Telephone Town Hall is in addition to the local town hall meetings and Congress on Your Corner meetings that Congressman Hall frequently holds. The Telephone Town Hall is one more way for Congressman Hall to serve his constituents.
