The Cornwall Yarn Shop has a new home. Owner Gail Parrinello purchased a building on Main Street for the new location of her business, which sells a wide variery of specialty yarns and offers workshops and classes for knitters. She moved all of her wares into the shop this week.
Parrinello says that she made the move because of the high rent at her former location on Torrey Lane and because she wanted more visibility. “I feel part of the community here,” she says. “It was a visibility and a financial decision.”
Two of Parrinello’s knitting associates will be out front of her new building at 227 Main Street during the Fall Festival on Saturday, demonstrating what they call Sock Boot Camp, an introduction to sock knitting.
She is also offering demonstrations by well-known yarn designers, including one, Louisa Harding, of England, who will be there on September 20. Knitting enthusiasts will be going on a Hudson River cruise sponsored by the yarn shop on the 23rd. One of the highlights of that cruise will be the Pirate Queen Shawl competition.
