General News: Cornwall Residents Talk About Gen. Petraeus

General David Petraeus |
September 12, 2007
He is probably the most well-known native of Cornwall-on-Hudson since Willie Hoppe became a world billiards champion a hundred years ago. For several days, General David Petraeus has topped the news around the globe as he explains and defends the Bush administration's military strategy in Iraq.
Petraeus is the top commander of U.S. forces in Iraq but he had more humble beginnings on Avenue A in Cornwall-on-Hudson. On Monday, a New York Times reporter came to town to talk to people about Petraeus and the impression he left on friends and classmates that may have given a clue to the role he would be playing on the world stage today. The story was published this morning on the front page of The New York Times.
