General News: Fire Department Drills at Old Clubhouse
The fire fighters recovered a dummy during the drill.

Members of the Cornwall Fire Department held practice drills on Saturday at the now-empty club house of Storm King Golf Course.
Firefighters from Highland Engine Company and Mountainville Fire Company came prepared to chop holes in the roof to release smoke from the building and to do search and rescue efforts inside.
Cornwall fire chief Patrick Hines said it’s not that often the fire companies get an opportunity to use an empty building for training purposes. Most training is done at the county site in Hamptonburgh, he said.
At the old clubhouse, fire fighters simulated the rescue of a person inside a smoke-filled building and also rescued a fellow firefighter who had fallen inside. Another drill was conducted in the dark on Tuesday and it included members of Storm King Engine Company #2.
On site was a new rescue truck that Chief Hines said had been delivered during the holidays. The rescue truck contains the apparatus for extricating people from vehicle accidents, lights for illuminating a rescue area, a generator, a pump for filling oxygen tanks and places to tie on for rope rescues.
Hines said the $600,000 vehicle was paid for with money saved by the department, with no money borrowed.
