"Autumn" by Jane Bloodgood Abrams. |
January 07, 2009
I am not an internationally known artist(I *could* play on one on TV...)but I think the popular vote has hit the mark much truer than the judge. The first prize miniature is artistically lacking. The superimposed face of the woman does not blend naturally on the pupil of the eye and what the heck is that strip of stuff draped?...hanging? down all over one side?... Hair? Where is the continuity?? The wholeness? The perspective of the reflection is not lifelike nor is the painting abstract enough to compensate for the laying over of the face on the pupil. Yes, it's a good concept, but technically it is not nearly as well done as the other placed entries....... Do-over!
