September 03, 2007

The Cornwall Historical Society is planning a ceremony on September 11, Patriot’s Day, when people will gather at the memorial bench at Chadeayne Circle to reflect on the losses that occurred during the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.   The bench, which was installed by the hiistorical society, is engraved with the words "Lest We Forget."

New York City firefighter and Cornwall resident Kenneth Kumpel lost his life responding to the blaze at the trade center building.

The Cornwall Ecumenical Ministry, Highland Engine Company, The American Legion Post 353 and several local first responders will join the historical society to pay tribute to all those impacted by the terrorist attack.   Following the 6 p.m. ceremony, attendees are invited to enjoy light refreshments at the Highland Engine Company.
