From St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital

Patients at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital received a special treat as local community groups and friends of the hospital spread holiday cheer throughout the halls.

“We’re honored to be the recipients of such wonderful acts of kindness,” said Sue Sullivan, SLCH Vice President of Development and Government Affairs, Executive Director, Foundation. “Our patients and staff look forward to these visits during the holidays.”

The Hub: Young Professionals of the Hudson Valley brought Santa and many donated gifts on their visits to children and adult patients. Girl Scout Troop 23 of Cornwall put smiles on patients’ and employees’ faces with their melodious voices caroling throughout the hospital. The Cornwall Lions brought beautiful holiday flower arrangements and lots of laughter to all at the Cornwall campus.

The United Brotherhood of Carpenters of the Hudson Valley Local 19 braved a snowstorm to deliver several boxes of wrapped and unwrapped toys to pediatric patients. Additional toys will be given throughout the year to children who come in to SLCH’s Emergency Room and those admitted to the hospital.

“It’s important for us to take time to go into the community and give back,” said carpenter and organizer of the holiday visit, Jim Palminteri. “This was our first year partnering with SLCH to deliver toys to children at the hospital. It was a great success, and we plan to continue to do this each year.”

The hospital also gave back to children in the community it serves by joining forces with Mobile Life in the Marine Toys for Tots Program. Several boxes of unwrapped toys were collected at the Cornwall and Newburgh campuses and distributed to needy children in the community.
