General News: Cornwall United Soccer Week 7

October 29, 2008

U9 GIRLS
The Lady Tigers hosted the girls from Rhinebeck and played to a 2-2 tie.  Aleigh Seitz got the Tigers on the board when she kicked in the first goal.  Taylor Mellon beat two defenders to assist the score.  Erin Dempsey made a great move up the middle to net the second score of the game.  Samantha Argenio and Madeline Dwyer did a great job controlling the ball in the mid-field.

U10 GIRLS
The Scorpions walked away with a 2-0 win against their rivals from Yorktown. These girls were unstoppable! Erin Briggs and Monika Morasse scored with assists from Briana Wallace and Olivia Davet. Brynne Growney debuted as goalie in the 2nd half and did a tremendous job protecting the goal with outstanding defense from Kelsey Burns, Sam Incognoli and Kayla Beckvermit. Amelia Harding, Hannah Cast and Sydney Jurgens kept the pressure on offensively with pinpoint passing.

U8 BOYS
The Cobras displayed great team skills and poise enroute to this week's victory over a brand new team from Greenwood Lake. Scoring his first two goals of the season, Joseph Madallena was an offensive spark. Also tallying goals were Trace Toweson, Will Leonard, Henry Flores and Connor Doyle. Joseph and Morgan Van Ledtje kept a clean sheet to secure the shutout. The team continues to display great sportsmanship on the field. The win keeps the team's undefeated streak alive at 5.

U13 BOYS
Awesome Storm defense neutralized their skilled opponents.  Chase Huestis scored the lone Cornwall goal in a fiercely contested second half.  Great defensive work by Ryan Mellino and Matt DeSouza while Damon Neil setup lots of opportunities up front.  Eric Growney played his best game of the season as the Storm and Wappingers tied 1-1.
