Anthony Incanno was honored by the Cornwall town board on Tuesday for his work with the Cornwall Conservation Advisory Committee. Town board member Mary Beth Greene Krafft and supervisor Kevin Quigley presented Iannoco with a certificate of appreciation for his dedication to environmental issues.
Incanno grabbed headlines locally this year when he challenged the Legacy Ridge housing development in Woodbury, saying it would overburden the Cornwall school system. Incanno convinced the school board, the town of Cornwall and the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson to join forces to get a legal review of the development project.
On Tuesday, Incanno recalled that he first became active on environmental issues in 1984 when he joined others to successfully challenge the town of Woodbury’s plans to dump sewage into the Moodna Creek. “I’m standing on the shoulders of a lot of people,” he said, recalling his many allies through the years. “They are the real heroes.”
