Five fire departments from the greater Cornwall area won trophies at this year’s Orange County Volunteer Fireman’s Association parade hosted by Harriman Engine Company #1 on September 28.

Cornwall’s Highland Engine Company garnered the top honor of Best Appearing Overall for its presentation in the parade through Harriman.

Storm King Fire Engine Company #2 of Cornwall-on-Hudson, won Best Appearing Apparatus for its 1973 ladder/tower truck, which chief Jeff Armitage says won while competing against much newer models.  He credits the hours of attention members of SKFE #2 gave to polishing and retouching the paint on the 35-year-old truck.

The SKFE #2’s Ladies Auxiliary won second place in its category.

The Salisbury Mills Fire Company took second place in the Men’s Class A and 3rd Place for its ladder/tower truck.

The Mountainville Fire Company took third place in the Men’s Class C competition and the Vails Gate Fire Department took first place for its ladder/tower truck.
