The Cornwall major softball team won 10 to 7 against Pearl River Monday evening, bringing the team a step closer to the state tournament.
Cornwall, the District 19 champs, led the game 2-0 at the bottom of the first inning but saw their lead disappear until the score was tied 5-5. Cornwall scored five runs in the sixth inning. Emily Casey was the winning pitcher and Megan Staudle went 4 for 4 with three RBI.
The next game will be played on Wednesday at a site to be determined.
