Ring’s Pond is regaining its beauty in early July, just as Cornwall town supervisor Dick Randazzo predicted in June when the pond was choked with a thick greenish-brown algae.
At the time, Randazzo said the algae has been appearing in the pond every June for the past several years. He was not sure what caused it, but predicted it would stay for about a month and then disappear.
An inspection of the pond on Thursday, July 12 showed that 90% of the algae was gone, with a strip of the slimy stuff unfortunately still along the pond edge nearest the parking area.
The water in the rest of the pond sparkled and the two resident swans swam through it to inspect a lone blue heron that had landed on the water’s edge.
Ducks waddled in the background and a seagull stood by in this peaceful setting. Not a single goose was seen.
Comments:
There are no geese at the pond, because they are raising their young elsewhere, but they'll be back!!
