General News: Girls Softball Team Wins Again

Cornwall's Major Girls all-star team tallied 16 hits to defeat Port Jervis 13-1 in Warwick.
Winning pitcher Allison Scott struck out 7 batters and had a hit to take Cornwall to their third win. The rain held out and allowed the completion of four innings.
As visitors, Cornwall got up to bat in the first inning. Caroline Staudle placed a bunt to get the girls started and Megan Staudle and Ally Galati put three RBIs on the board. Morgan McDonald had a hit in the top of the second and Olivia Jebb and Caroline Staudle both scored in the second on hits by Cassie Browne and Megan Staudle. Ally Galati sent Megan Staudle home on her second hit of the game.
Port Jervis answered these four runs with a run in the bottom of the second. Cornwall came up to bat in the third and scored four more runs to go ahead 11-1 on RBIs by Olivia Jebb, Samantha Birmelin and Ally Galati.
Before Allison Scott finished pitching the game she had a hit in the fourth starting another two run rally for Cornwall. Pinch runner Caroline Staudle stole home and Samantha Birmelin had another RBI to end the game 13-1. The girls move on to play the winner of Walden and Washingtonville this Saturday at 10:00am in Middletown.
