General News: Nominate an Artist for an Award

Orange County Arts Council Executive Director Susan Linn wants to remind interested individuals that the deadline for Orange County Arts Council Awards is fast approaching. The deadline to submit nominations is Monday, September 22, 2008. Nominations must be at the Orange County Arts Council Office located at 23 White Oak Drive, Sugar Loaf, New York, by 5:00 pm.
The Orange County Arts Council Awards recognize living individuals, organizations, and corporations which have made outstanding contributions to the arts in our community. Nominations should be based on artistic excellence, sustained contributions, unusual achievement, perseverance, and a deep commitment to the arts and the community. Recipients will be chosen by a selection committee appointed by the Arts Council. Awards will be presented at a gala evening event.
Award Categories:
_Youth with Exceptional Promise Artist Award
_Individual Artist Award
_Arts in Education Award
_Arts Organization Award
_Champion of the Arts Award (Individual or Family)
_Champion for People with Disabilities Award (Individual or Organization)
_Champion of the Arts Award (Corporate)
_Lifetime Achievement Award
Eligibility:
Recipients may include individual artists, arts patrons, volunteers, non-profit cultural organizations, and corporate patrons.
Those eligible to be considered for nomination must currently reside or work in Orange County for more than one year:
_Individuals
_Individual visual, literary and performing artists of ALL artistic disciplines
_Arts Administrators and staff, full-time or part-time
_Arts professionals and volunteers
_Stagecraft professionals, practitioners and technicians
_Organizations and businesses
_Arts donors, patrons and community supporters.
