General News: Filmmakers Looking for Movie Set

August 11, 2008

UPDATE FROM THE MOVIE PRODUCERS:

August 11, 2008
Film producers received more than two dozen inquiries about their search for locations in the Cornwall area.  Location scout Phil McGonigle sent in an update about their search,  explaining that they are now looking for a vinyl- or wood-sided or ranch house, not a brick one, a modest farmhouse, a golf course, and a high school auditorium.

Also, McGonigle said, the lead actors in the film, Handsome Harry, have been confirmed, including Jamey Sheridan, who is cast in the lead role as Harry Silver.  Jamey has appeared in over 100 episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent as Captain James Deakins.

Campbell Scott, who recently starred in the JJ Abrams series Six Degrees, as well as movies like Music and Lyrics and Big Night, will play a key role in the film along with Titus Welliver, who played Silas Adams in the critically acclaimed HBO series, Deadwood.   Timothy Hutton and Alfred Molino will most likely not be in the production.

HERE IS THE ARTICLE THAT RAN LAST WEEK ABOUT THE FILMING OF HANDSOME HARRY.

Does your house belong in a movie? This may be a chance in a lifetime.

Independent feature film producers are scouting in the Cornwall area to find three houses to use for the September production of “Handsome Harry,” a film starring Timothy Hutton, Alfred Molina and, possibly, John Tuturro.

Location Scout Philip McGonigle explains that the film centers on a man in search of redemption, who travels from town to town to look up his old Navy buddies.

Susan Ostrander, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, is helping the producers find the right houses. She says the producers are looking for the following:

1. A trophy riverfront/contemporary home
2. A modest brick ranch with possible adaptations visible for a handicapped resident and
3. A classic “upstate” style two-story home.

Furnished homes appropriate to their architectural style are preferred, Ostrander says.

McGonigle explains that if I home is being considered as a location, first photos will be taken of it. If a house is chosen, it will be shown to the director and if the director likes it, the producer sand director will likely visit in person. If a home is selected for filming, a $500 a day fee for filming and a $250 a day fee for prep and wrap will be offered. The production is fully insured.

If you would like your home to be considered, please contact Susan Ostrander at (845) 667-0521 or Philip McGonigle at (212) 431-3090

Comments:

I guess news now turns into advertising. Will there be a fee sharing or finder's fee?
