General News: Independence Day Committee Seeks Participation

With the Fourth of July less than three weeks away, the Cornwall Independence Day Committee is looking for participation and volunteers.
It's time to confirm the line-of-march for the 5 p.m. parade so participants can be listed in the program journal. The committee encourages organizations to create floats, which are the highlight of the parade. Local businesses stand ready to provide vehicles to pull or carry floats. Please call parade coordinator Paul Korykora at 534-8667 for details.
Sally Faith Dorfman is producing the historical pageant and welcomes participants on and behind the stage. You can reach her at 534-4303.
Dave Feuer is coordinating the nineth annual Main Street Mile. Please call committee member Karen Ganz at 534-2051 to join the runners.
The crafts fair still has spaces. Craftspeople may call Kathy Sacer at 534-4565. The committee has some 25 members and welcomes volunteers to help make the celebration successful. The committee needs help with running events and fundraising all day and night. To volunteer, please call Sacer.
The committee must raise $30,000 to carry out the day's festivities. Committee member Sue Fink has designed a T-shirt depicting the Rings Pond gazebo and the swans. T-shirts and raffle tickets, for Yankee tickets (courtesty of Larkin, Axelrod, Ingrassia & Tetenbaum), a mountain bike (courtesy of Vails Gate Cycle) and dinner at Nicky's, are available weekends at the Cornwall shopping plaza. The opportunity to place ads in the journal is nearly over.
