General News: AAU Under-13 Tournament Results

The Cornwall Dragons AAU 13-under basketball team recently completed its 6th tournament, posting a 4-1 record in the Dowd Tournament in Monroe. The team has participated in tournaments in Boston, Albany, Newburgh, Mechanicville, Saratoga, and at Siena College.
The weekend of May 31-June1, they defeated the Orange County Crusaders (Monroe) 43-35. Drew Thorpe and Louie Cioffi each had nine points, followed by Chris Parker, Ryan Crowley, and Chaz Del Bene with 6.
In the second game, the team was defeated by the Edge, from New Paltz, 55-38. Louie Cioffi had 11 and Chaz Del Bene nine for the Dragons.
The team finished the day on Saturday with a 39-38 victory over the Long Island Lightning. cLouie Cioffi had 15 points, including three three-pointers in the final quarter, and Drew Thorpe 14 points in the victory. The game also featured outstanding rebounding and shot- blocking from Maleek Griffin and good floor play from Bret Gallio.
On Sunday, the Dragons secured two upsets with a 44-34 win over the Rockland Rockets. Louie Cioffi had 13, Drew Thorpe eight, and Maleek Griffin had seven points in the win. They also upset the Hudson Valley Wolves with a 47-45 victory. Louie Cioffi compiled 20 points, Drew Thorpe 10, followed by Chaz Del Bene,Austin Stewart, and Chris Parker, all with seven. Outstanding rebounding by Del Bene,Thorpe, Parker, and Griffin helped secure the victory.
These wins enabled the Dragons to finish second in a field of twelve teams.
