Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson trustee Rudy Hahn received a plaque of appreciation from the officers and members of Storm King Fire Engine Co. #2 on Wednesday evening.
The award recognized Hahn’s service as the village fire commissioner for 24 years – a post he filled as part of his duties as village trustee. Hahn lost his bid for re-election on March 18 will continue to serve until new trustees Rick Gioia and Barbara Gosda are sworn in on April 7.
Accepting the award from fire chief Jeff Armitage, Hahn said he should be the one giving the award to the members of the volunteer fire department. “I want to thank you for the hours, the effort, you put in to benefit the people of the village,” Hahn said, noting that the effort is not always appreciated by the public.
Hahn, who has served nearly 30 years as trustee, seemed accepting of his defeat last month, noting that he hadn’t campaigned. He said he plans to get more physical activity and to some volunteer work, like Habitat for Humanity.
