A crew from Storm King Fire Engine Company #2 was out delivering notices about the need to boil water when an alert member spotted smoke coming out of a shed on Hudson Street shortly before 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.
The crew stopped and called in the fire at the shed at 365 Hudson Street. Fire chief Jeff Armitage said the fire apparently started in an electrical box in the shed. Electrical fires during periods of heavy rains and flooding are not uncommon.
The fire was quickly put out and the building did not suffer heavy damage. A portion of upper Hudson Street was briefly closed.
