General News: Gilmore Decides Not to Run For Trustee

February 05, 2008

Bob Gilmore, the former head of the Cornwall-on-Hudson Department of Public Works,  has decided not to run for a seat on the village board of trustees.

Days after picking up a petition last month, Gilmore said that he was considering a run for trustee although, he said, the seat he really is interested in is that of village mayor.   Two trustees spots will be filled in an election on March 18.  The position of mayor will not be voted on until 2009.

In announcing his decision not to run, Gilmore thanked his supporters and expressed his support for current trustees Rudy Hahn and Peter Miller, whose seats are up for re-election next month. “I know they will continue to be excellent representatives on the village board,” Gilmore noted.

Gilmore retired as head of the DPW in October of last year after 36 years in the department.  He cited his many civic involvements, from the school board to Little League,  as evidence of his track record as a leader in the community.

Comments:

Looks like the "good old boys" plan on staying together so they can continue what they and "King Moulton' started. I hope the village residents see this and elect people that are interested in doing what is best for the village.
