General News: Not Guilty Plea in Arson Case
March 22, 2007
Colin Marrone, who was arrested in February and charged with arson of the Little League building in Cornwall, was arraigned on Thursday in county court in Goshen on four felony counts: 3rd degree arson; 4th degree arson, 3rd degree burglary; and 2nd degree criminal mischief.
Marrone, 18, of New Windsor, pleaded not guilty to all four counts. The judge, Robert Freehill, reduced the defendant’s bail from $50,000 to $25,000 cash and from $100,000 to $75,000 bond.
If convicted on these charges, Marrone would face as little as five years probation or as much as 15 years in prison. The sentencing will hinge on whether the judge grants Marrone youthful offender status. As a youthful offender, sentencing guidelines on these charges run from five years probation to a maximum of four years in prison.
