General News: St. Thomas Girls Basketball Team Advances

St. Thomas took the lead in the Orange County Parochial School basketball league with the defeat of St. Stephens of Warwick on Sunday.
The St. Thomas team, the Wolverines, advanced to first place in their doubleheader weekend at home with a record of 10-0.
On Saturday the girls defeated Sacred Heart of Monroe, 43-9. In the second round of the weekend the girls took on St. Stephens and won 43-27.
Megan Staudle scored 18 points and Caroline Staudle sunk 11. Modi McDonnell contributed nine points and Meghan Gallivan scored three. Caroline Gallivan and Erin McFadden helped distribute the ball on offense.
The girls were down 14-9 after the first quarter but shook it off and dominated possession the remainder of the game. St. Stephens were scoreless the second quarter and held to only two points in the third. Jennifer Sayegh came off the bench adding two points to the tally
