General News: Water Dept. Site To Be Sold

The Cornwall-on-Hudson water department is planning to sell its former headquarters building on Maple Avenue this year.
The village board wants the property surveyed before putting it on the market and has also asked the department of public works to look at the feasibility of creating a turn-around in the front of the property, which is at the end of a dead-end street. DPW chief Halvorsen told the board at its monthly meeting on Tuesday that the site would lose a considerable amount of property if a turn-around is carved out.
In late 2007 the water department moved out of its Maple Avenue building due to the poor physical condition of the structure. Headquarters were relocated to the DPW building on Shore Road.
