General News: Riverfront Revitalization Back in Action
January 04, 2008
From RRC Chair John Wenz
The COH Village Riverfront Revitalization Committee held its first meeting of 2008 Thursday night in Village hall. The following is a summary of the proceedings and decisions:
1. A subcommittee will draft a Request for Qualifications to be distributed to consulting firms who will be interviewed for engagement by the Village.
2. Committee members will research consulting firms to include in the distribution list for the above RFQ.
3. One member volunteered to confirm the guidelines pertinent to the $60,000 legislative initiative grant for improvement to the launch & docking facility at Donahue Memorial Park.
4. The Committee agreed to recommend to the Village Board to move forward, with reservations, on the FEMA erosion control project at Donahue Park, known as the “mafia block wall.” Concerns include hydrodynamic design, esthetics, permitting, and protection of trees during construction. The Committee anticipates that the Village Attorney and the Village Engineer will satisfy these concerns prior to awarding a contract to begin the project.
5. The Committee agreed to meet on the first Thursday of each month at 7PM in the Village Hall. Additional meetings and public hearings will be held as needed.
6. Members in attendance were: Robert Anderson, Melissa Stoffa, Simon Gruber, Barbara Corwin, Warren Mumford, Mary Donahue, Andy Maroney, Ron Salvatore, Dave Work, and John Wenz. Bill Fulton was present for Collette who was unable to attend.
