General News: Six Cornwall Teams Are Scholar-Athletes

Six varsity teams from Cornwall Central High School achieved the status of Scholar-Athlete by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, which is awarded to teams whose members compile a grade average of 90 or above.
This fall, the boys cross country team achieved a 93.3 average, the girls swimming team achieved a 93.1 average and the girls cross country team had a 92.9 average.
In addition, the girls volleyball team had an average of 92.1, the girls soccer team had one of 91 and the girls tennis team compiled an average of 90.4.
"This is great news, " said Lou Cioffi, director of Athletics for the school district, "as it fully complements our six sectional titles from the fall season. It is really a great tribute to our student-athletes and their coaches."
