Home Heating Help Grant Applications Available to Orange County Residents
March 28 Deadline for Submission of Assistance Application
MONTGOMERY – Orange County residents who are in need of assistance to pay home heating expenses, but don’t qualify for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), may be eligible for help through the Orange County Fuel Fund. Applications must be submitted for consideration by the March 28, 2014 deadline.
Residents can apply for a one-time annual grant for assistance to pay all types of home heating fuel expenses including kerosene, propane, oil, pellets, wood and electric heat. Grant amounts depend on the type of heating fuel used by residents and range from $800 to $1,000. For applicants found to be eligible, grants will be paid, upon approval, directly to the resident’s heating provider. The application deadline is March 28, or sooner if available funding is depleted prior to that date.
"This has been an especially long, cold winter and many Orange County residents are being faced with the reality of heating expenses at an all time high," said Donald Hammond, President and CEO of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region. "Residents at risk should find out if they're eligible for assistance through the Orange County Fuel Fund so they don't have to make a choice between heating their home and other basic necessities of life."
Applications can be completed online at www.ocfuelfund.org. Orange County residents can also download the application form, print it out, and mail to: United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, 30 Scott’s Corners Dr., Suite 102, Montgomery, NY 12549, Attention: Orange County Fuel Fund, or fax the completed form to 845-457-4702.
All applications require documentation for all members of the household. Once eligibility is confirmed, applicants will be asked to submit their application and required documentation to the program administrator.
