What do you get when you take 95 10- and 11-year-old children, dress them up in adorable costumes, and give them some songs to sing? You get a rip-roaring night of entertainment on the stage, that’s what.

On Friday and Saturday, November 2nd and 3rd, students from the Cornwall Middle School will perform an original musical created by Karen Eremin, a parent who volunteers her time to produce and direct the school’s Little Theatre. The title of the show is Uncle Bialy's Spectacular Cavalcade of Mediocre Entertainment, a misnomer for this delightful gem.

The show takes place at a theatre camp in the Catskills, circa 1964. The reputation of the camp had been falling when Uncle Bialy, a director whose Broadway career has hit the skids, is sent to direct the little budding thespians.

With his assistant, Helga, and a group of nuns who are called to the stage, Uncle Bialy creates a production that is a big hit, if only the camp owner, Mrs. Pinchley, can stay out of the way.

Band director Steve Kessler and music teacher Valerie Ransbottom have been working with Eremin on the show’s musical numbers, which have been borrowed from a string of Broadway hits. You will hear songs from The Producers, Little Me, Chicago, Gypsy, Nunsense, La Cage Aux Folles, A Chorus Line and Spamalot. Kessler leads the pit orchestra composed of middle school and high school students as well as professional musicians.

The original sets by Juli Friedlander, Patty Deery and Michelle Goldfrank are incredible -- director Karen Eremin calls them "a visual assault on the senses." The costumes by Darlene Sarchino and Christina Longueira are fabulous and the entire production is a tribute to the many talents of the parents, students, and staff who join forces to create this Little Theatre spectacular.

Anything involving the Mrs. Eremin is sure to be either wickedly hysterical or spectacularly entertaining! I cannot wait!

Mrs. Eremin and all of the children are fantastic - everyone should come out to see what these kids can do in a few weeks. They are all truly fabulous!!!
