General News: Annual Halloween Art Contest
October 25, 2007
From the Lions Club
The Cornwall Lions will hold its annual Halloween Art Contest from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 27 along Main Street in town and Hudson Street in the village. The contest is free and children from kindergarten through the sixth grade are eligible.
The Lions will be at two locations to register children, assign a spot and distribute paint. The town location is the business district parking lot and the village location is the bandstand.
Village artist Barbara Smith Gioia will judge the entries.
Each participant will receive a coupon for a free slice of pizza and a soda to be redeemed at any of community’s three pizzerias. The young artists will also receive a small pumpkin while supplies last.
Town and village police will provide patrolmen to help deal with traffic and keep children safe.
The Lions are grateful to local businesses for allowing children to hang their artwork on their windows and for donations of paper and paint. They also extend their appreciation to the town and village police departments.
There is no rain date. For further information about the contest, contact Lion Robert Walentin, chair of the event, at 534-9331.
The Cornwall Lions Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary of service to the community.
