General News: Notes from the Village Board Meeting

** Officer Louis DiMiceli, known to hundreds of students as Officer Lou the D.A.R.E. instructor and to hundreds of residents as one of the friendliest cops around, retired from the village police department at the end of 2006. In his resignation letter, he said his “11 years in Cornwall have been wonderful.” A retirement party will be held for Office DiMiceli on February 23 at Anthony’s Pier 9. ** A plaque in memory of former village residents Benjamin and Loretta Santoro has been donated by their family, together with a tree that will be planted to honor the couple.
** Village trustee Charles (Rudy) Hahn, who underway heart surgery during the Christmas holidays, is improving daily and he is expected back to work in a month or so.
** Sixteen property owners in the Cliffside Park neighborhood received letters giving them 180 days to remove anything that is encroaching on the public roadway. Mayor Moulton said that once the encroachments have been removed a plan will be designed to improve drainage and widen the roads so emergency vehicles can have better access.
