General News: Notes from the Town of Cornwall Board Meeting

May 29, 2015

By: Emma Friedrich

CORNWALL, NY – On Monday, May 11th, the Town held their monthly board meeting.

The first major agenda item was the Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is set to receive new gates and a new de-chlorination/aeration tank. On June 1st, at 7pm, there will a public hearing regarding the Wastewater Treatment Plant during the Town Work Session, for anyone with questions or concerns.

The Storm King Golf course was a topic of major debate between board members. Town Supervisor, Randy Clark, hopes that the town will purchase the golf course. However, the plan was met with many questions and doubtful thoughts. Clark explained that purchasing the golf course would actually benefit the town immensely. A management company would take care of all the necessities and they would pay the Town. Clark went onto say that, pending on the Deed, the town could rent out the restaurant on the course. However, he wanted to assure everyone that they were “no where near writing a check.” The continued research and planning for a purchasing bond was put to a vote, which resulted in two “Yes”, one “No”, and one “Abstain”. Any further questions or concerns should be brought to Randy Clark, please call (845)534-3760.

There will be an upcoming change in Dog Control fees. The fines will be increased by $25. However an official number hasn’t been set yet.

The Board would like to remind everyone of the following the Events:
May 30th, Sands Ring Homestead is holding an Antiques Roadshow Fundraiser.
June 13th is the annual Shredder and Electronic day from 1-4pm.
June 20th is the Black Rock Bass Busters Youth Day Fishing contest. It will begin at 8am and kids age 5 to 15 can enter.
