Letters to the Editor: Garbage Trouble

August 27, 2014

Letter to the Editor:
After my garbage was picked up today I was left with a driveway strewn with garbage that didn't make it into the truck, and a garbage can that had not been thoroughly emptied. This is not uncommon, and I'm growing very tired of paying high taxes for this kind of shoddy service. Surely I'm not the only one to notice this?

Comments:

Gary, one thing to be aware of is that if a raccoon or dog got to your garbage before the DPW guys did, they're under no compunction to clean up the spill. "Not my job," they'll say, and they're absolutely right.

I also have the same trouble. at times they even miss a full pail. I wish they would put the lids back on when it is raining or snowing so the recycle items dont stick in the wet pail.
Also couldnt we do with just one garbage pick up a week instead of two Especially in freezing weather when it would not smell or attract critters

Ride around on the back of one of those trucks for a week in the winter.

Jack's right. We should always remember that those guys are doing a job none of us wants. THEY should be paid like hedge-fund managers, not the other way around.
